Can’t find toilet paper or eggs at the grocery store? We can’t help you there. But we can help you find everything you need to know about what’s happening in state public utility commission dockets and legislation around the country related to energy and COVID-19.  And since schools are closed and many of us are trying to figure out how to make learning fun, we’ll do this in the form of an interactive map and a coronavirus acrostic.

Can’t leave your house to participate in a PUC proceeding? No problem! In states like  HawaiiIdaho, Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wyoming, all filings can now be done exclusively by e-filing.

Oh no! With the economy in a nose-dive and an increasing number of people struggling to pay their bills, many states have and/or are considering suspended disconnections. Those jurisdictions that have officially made the move via legislation or regulation include DC, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina,  Rhode Island, South Carolina,  and Washington, while those with bills or proceedings pending include Alaska, Arizona, California, Louisiana, New Jersey, Ohio and Wyoming.

Viral videos (pun intended) eating up your day? Several states, such as Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania as well as FERC are delaying deadlines for at least certain filings and/or commission decisions, while legislation introduced in Alaska would delay all statutory and regulatory deadlines for commission actions.

Interested in talking COVID all day?  At least two states have opened broader COVID-19 dockets, including Arizona, which is exploring utility preparedness to ensure safe and reliable operations during the pandemic, and Connecticut, which is considering additional ways to provide financial relief to ratepayers beyond disconnection suspensions.

Does a good map and acrostic make your day? As state energy action on COVID-19 continues to rapidly evolve, our team will continue to track developments. Sign into PowerSuite to see the most up to date information at https://powersuite.aee.net/covid-19.
